Which tea set to choose?

Which tea set to choose?

Every tea lover has seen a plethora of different teapots, whether they are made of porcelain, cast iron, earthenware, glass, etc., each intended for a particular use and time. But which one to choose?

Let's talk about the size

With regard to the size of your container, it will mainly depend on the number of cups you wish to serve. Be careful not to choose a teapot that is too large, as the tea's aromas may quickly turn sour if it is not served in full.

If you want to drink your tea with two people and count on refills, a 600 ml teapot is ideal.

If you prepare your tea with your family, choose a 1000-1200 ml teapot.

If you are sipping your tea alone, don't hesitate to choose a tea pot with a volume of 300 to 500 ml.

Let's talk about the form

The shape The shape of the teapot should ideally be spherical (e.g. pear-shaped, bell-shaped, bowl-shaped...) to ensure a homogeneous infusion. A perfectly fitting lid allows to retain the hot air and thus maintain the heat of your tea.

Let's talk about materials

A glass teapot or herbal tea pot glassA glass teapot, preferably borosilicate, allows you to admire the brewing process and see the liquor coloring. The intensity of the color usually lets you know when the tea is ready. This visual spectacle is as important as tasting the tea.

Moreover, unlike ordinary glass, borosilicate glass has the particularity of resisting thermal shocks from -20°C to +150°C and of keeping the temperature of your tea. The quality of this glass does not alter the taste of your tea, unlike cast iron teapots that could eventually rust over time and use.

Although volume, shape and materials could be determining factors in the choice of the teapot, do not restrict yourself! There are quality tea sets for every taste!
